The Citizens' Assembly follows the model used for the Citizens' Assembly 2016 - 2018.
Establishment of the Citizens Assembly was approved by Resolution of both Houses of the Oireachtas in July 2016.
The Resolution set out Citizens’ Assembly to consider the following matters and to make such recommendations as it sees fit and report to the Houses of the Oireachtas
- The Eighth amendment of the Constitution
- How we best respond to the challenges and opportunities of an aging population
- Fixed term parliaments
- The manner in which referenda are held
- How the state can make Ireland a leader in tackling climate change
